Sherif El-Defrawy MD, PhD (Pharmacology), FRCSC, an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Ophthalmology, Queen’s University, is the current President of the Canadian Ophthalmology Society. Dr. El-Defrawy, a member of several professional societies, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Society serves many important provincial and national committees, including Ontario’s Expert panel on Cataract Surgery Wait Time, the Canadian Institute for Health Information and the Health Protection Branch of the Federal Government of Canada. Dr. El-Defrawy, the recipient of many teaching awards, including the Professional Association of Interns and Residents of Ontario’s (PAIRO) Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award, has received several grants for research in eye disease. |

 | | David Almeida MD MBA PHD is an Ophthalmology Resident at Queen's University and Chief Reviewer of both Optocase and Ebeyecase. After completing a PHD in pharmaceutical chemistry, Dr. Almeida completed medical school at Queen's University while also concurrently earning an MBA through the George Washington University School of Business. During his brief medical career, Dr. Almeida has over 20 publications to his credit, many in Ophthalmology, and has received numerous accolades for his work including the 2007 Third-place Canadian Ophthalmological Society (COS) award for excellence in ophthalmic research and the 2008 Queen's University Professor's Prize in Ophthalmology. Dr. Almeida's Ophthalmology research has been presented at internationally renowned conferences such as the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) meeting. |

Vladamir Kratky MD, FRCSC is an Associate Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Queen’s University, who specializes in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery. He is an examiner for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Kratky is a member of numerous professional memberships pertaining to oculo-plastics including, ASOPRS, the European Society of Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery as well as the International Society for Orbital Disorders. Dr. Kratky, the author of numerous peer-reviewed publications, has received a US Patent for novel method to quantify globe proptosis. Dr. Kratky is a Past-president of the Canadian Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. |

Martin William ten Hove B.Sc., M.Eng, MD, is an Associate Professor and Deputy Head in the Department of Ophthalmology at Queen’s University. Dr ten Hove, who specializes in Neuro-Ophthalmology, completed his post-graduate medical education at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. Dr. ten Hove, the author of numerous articles that have appeared in the peer-reviewed literature, serves on the Editorial Board for the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology and the Journal of Neuro-Ophthalmology. |
